China’s Permanent Representative to the UN and Other International Organizations in Vienna Ambassador Li Song Attends the Handover Ceremony for the Chang’e-6 Lunar Sample

On September 14, the China National Space Administration (CNSA), the Permanent Mission of China to the United Nations and other International Organizations in Vienna, and the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) held a handover ceremony at the UN headquarters in Vienna. China officially presented the United Nations with the lunar sample first-ever collected from the far side of the Moon by the Chang'e-6 mission.

Mr SHAN Zhongde, Administrator of the CNSA, Ms Monica JUMA, Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna; Ms Aarti HOLLA-MAINI, Director of UNOOSA; and Ambassador LI Song, Permanent Representative of China to the United Nations and other International Organizations in Vienna, unveiled the lunar sample together. Participants highly commended China's achievements in space exploration and expressed their anticipation of working with China to advance the peaceful use of outer space.

Ambassador LI Song stated that this event vividly embodies the vision of a community with a shared future for mankind proposed by President Xi Jinping and represents a significant action by China to support the peace and development work of the United Nations, and to implement the four global initiatives. The event demonstrates China's commitment and actions to firmly uphold the status and role of the United Nations in collaboration with all parties, improve global governance of outer space, and better benefit all of humanity.
